Participate in Our Fundraising Events
Fundraising is critical to the survival of the S.P.A. Not only do we have regular fundraising programs, but we also have special events throughout a year. Please email us if you have any ideas for fundraising or promotions. We’d love to hear them!
Garage sale to benefit the S.P.A.: May 21, 2017!
Every Tuesday, starting December 13, 2016 through January 10, 2017, Gabe Hizer put on a series of intimate concerts at Sala Quetzal in the Biblioteca. Tickets were 150 pesos. The concerts started at 7 p.m. Gabe generously donated 100% of the net proceeds to the S.P.A.!
On November 19, 2015, Vintage Poster Gallery, Zacateros 57, hosted an opening reception for a month-long show to benefit the S.P.A. Specially selected for the S.P.A. benefit show were lovable creatures illustrated in movie, music, theater, travel, and circus posters. A percentage of the proceeds from poster sales for the month will benefit the S.P.A. Thank you, Marty Rosenberg!
On October 1, 2015, Sandra Cisneros, a renowned author who is now living in San Miguel, hosted an event at Bellas Artes to benefit four SMA animal organizations. It was an evening of literature, poetry, and theater – in two separate and distinct performances. Thank you, Sandra Cisneros and friends!
On July 16, 2015, Áperi, the San Miguel restaurant rated #1 by Tripadvisor, was the site of an S.P.A. benefit event. Chef Matteo Salas and guest chef Santiago Aleck Pirsch put together an enticing tasting menu, the proceeds of benefitted the S.P.A.! Thank you, Matteo and Aleck!
Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy our September 13, 2014 fundraiser at the Z Club, featuring a runway fashion show by Darla, entertainment by Gravity Works, a gourmet meal, dancing and a raffle. The evening was splashy, exciting, and a tremendous success, thanks to Darla Nordstrom, Ann King, the models, choreographer, and our fabulous volunteers. We appreciate your support.
Our March 23, 2014 “Treasures of San Miguel” fundraiser at Hacienda Purisima de Jalpa honoring Dea Randall was wonderful! Our cattery now has a plaque above it and is named the “Dea Randall Cattery.” Cagney and Lacey, two “guest” puppies, won the heart of one of the attendees who showed up the next day to adopt them. We are delighted at their adoption and that this event brought in much-needed funds to help us provide food, care, and shelter for our 100 or so resident cats, kittens, puppies, and dogs, all of whom are waiting for their forever homes. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a huge success!
On November 19, 2013, the S.P.A. held its fundraiser entitled “Loving Animals Is Never Out of Fashion.” Thanks to the generosity of Vivoli Café & Trattoria’s Cristina Gamez, we enjoyed a gourmet meal at Vivoli’s (Hernandez Macias 66) accompanied by live music.
The evening included a cash bar, a raffle for many very special prizes (including artwork from local artists Juan Ezcurdia, Henry Vermillion, and Britt Zaist), PLUS a runway fashion show produced by Darla Nordstrom of Darla’s. Darla’s, located at the corner of Correo and Recreo, carries unique, hand-made fine jewelry (made by Darla) and fun and lively fashions and accessories.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this event and helped make it a resounding success!
As an ongoing fundraising program, the S.P.A. is approaching local restaurants to ask if they will “partner” with us. This means that on a day of their choice, they agree to give us a percentage of their profits. In exchange, we encourage as many people as possible to patronize the restaurant on that day. Everyone wins; the restaurant has customers, the dogs and cats at the S.P.A. get some money to use toward their meals, and the folks dining at the partner restaurant get a great meal and the satisfaction of helping the animals at the same time.
July 22, 2014: La Frontera restaurant (Stirling Dickinson #28 in Plaza Pueblito) agreed to be our partner again. The weather was great, food was delicious, and we brought some enticing puppies and kittens. Thank you, La Frontera!
June 25, 2014: Mi Patio restaurant (Sollano 21) was our partner. Not only was a percentage of proceeds from meals that day donated to the S.P.A., but Mi Patio hosted an art opening, featuring two artists, Sandra Palma de Ruiz and Maria Guadalupe Oliveras, both of whom also agreed to donate a percentage of their sales to the S.P.A. Their artwork will remain at Mi Patio for a month.
September 5, 2013: La Frontera (Stirling Dickinson #28 in Plaza Pueblito) was our partner. We had a great turnout and even some pet adoptions as a result. Thank you, La Frontera, for supporting the S.P.A. and donating a portion of its proceeds from the day to the S.P.A.
August, 2013: Shanti San Miguel was our partner. This beautiful retreat just a few miles outside of SMA offered a special menu that day. For 200 pesos, a delicious comida was served and S.P.A. supporters could spend the day relaxing at the pool, and browse the jewelry sale which happened at the same time. Thank you, Shanti San Miguel!
July, 2013: Longhorn Smokehouse Bar & Grill was our first partner and we want to take the opportunity to thank Keith and his staff. He generously gave us a percentage of his profits for the whole day! If you like barbecue, brisket, burgers, ribs, steak, or chicken, head to the Longhorn for a great meal and a good time.
