Who We Are, What We Do – Help Us Fulfill Our Goals
The Sociedad Protectora de Animales de San Miguel de Allende, A.C. has been leading the charge in animal welfare for over 35 years. It is the only no-kill animal shelter for dogs and cats in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and environs and houses up to 100 animals. We also have a clinic within our facilities that offers low-cost medical care for pets owned by people of limited economic resources.
We have many goals at the S.P.A. We want to educate our community about the importance of taking care of their pets and giving them the health care they need, i.e., vaccinations and sterilization, and provide an economical means to satisfy these responsibilities. We would like to increase awareness and appreciation of animals so that others can enjoy the magic that comes from loving and owning a pet. Teaching others to be kind to and tolerant of animals is another one of our goals. Regarding our own S.P.A. animals, we are searching for permanent, loving homes for all of them. We also want to provide the best living conditions for our animals while they are at the S.P.A., waiting for their forever homes.
Please join us in supporting these goals. We’d love to have you volunteer! There are many different ways to do that. You can walk dogs, play with puppies, and cuddle with cats and kittens. You could help us with S.P.A. activities. Come up with ideas for fundraising and help us implement them. Have an idea for a community outreach program? Tell us about it! We’re all ears. We’d appreciate any help you have to offer.
