The S.P.A. scholarship program is a 12 week course in dog training with classes 2 times per week. We take 5 students per course and they work with our S.P.A. dogs, usually 2 adult dogs during each class and a short puppy socializing session too.  Each class lasts about an hour to an hour and a half.  The students must be between the ages of 13 and 18 to qualify for the program.  After they have completed the classes they are put on a contact list. If dog owners in the community want information about dog walking, or help with their dogs, we can match them up with the right student.  Also, if one of the dogs they have been training gets adopted, the student  can work with the new owner to show them everything the dog has been taught. 

Tomas is our own special San Miguel dog whisperer who trained under Charlotte Peltz. He is the instructor for the students.  Tomas teaches a positive reinforcement method ( Clicker training), that is now recognized world wide as one of the most effective and humane ways to train animals.

-1 dog for 12 week course – 600 pesos
-1 dog for a 6 week course – 300 pesos
-Any donation under 300 pesos will go toward training supplies or added to a fund until we get enough for a full scholarship
